Paul Murray (born 27th October 1998 in Paisley, Scotland) is a Scottish footballer who plays for Coventry City and the Scottish Nation Team as a Striker.
Club career Edit
Murray started his career at Celtic in the 2014/15 playing with the Celtic Academy. Murray broke into the first team in 2015, making a total of 48 appearences and scoring 13 goals in a 7 year stay.
Coventry City Edit
Having impressed in Celtic's Champions League campaign, Murray scored 5 goals in 8 appearences, with Coventry City scouts watching Murray multiple times. On the 15th June 2018, Celtic accepted an offer of £7.25M, from Coventry City. The deal was finalized on the 20th.
Murray had a very poor pre-season, failing to score in any of Coventry's 7 games, including wins over Atletico and Boca Juniors. He made his debut in a 2-0 win over Cardiff City on the opening day of the season, Murray coming off the bench to grab a quickfire double. Murray then proceeded to go 7 games without a goal, finally breaking his drouht in a 2-0 win over Watford. Murray getting the second goal of the game. However, Murray failed to make a impact in his sides 7-1 loss to Chelsea, or a 0-0 draw against Burnley. However, what happened next was unexpected from Murray. A change of tactic, seen Murray bag an impressive 15 goals in 7 appearences, with Congolese born, English striker Jules Lumanza getting 8 assists, with Lumanza grabbing 4 goals himself. Murray finished the season with 33 league goals in 35 games, and 45 goals in 44 appearences, along with 7 assists. Grabbing 7 hat-tricks along the way. Including 5 goals in a 7-0 trouncing of Tottenham. At the end of the season, Paul Murray picked up the Premier League Golden Boot.
Murray's excellent form was rewarded in December 2019, as he picked up the European Golden Boy, as well as being the runner up in the adidas Golden Shoe.
International career Edit
Murray has made 11 appearances for the Scottish National Team, making his debut on 15th November 2017, against Holland, and scored his first goal two days later, in a 3-1 win over Holland. Murray has scored 4 goals for his National side.
